Boyle Rambling Anglers - Open Pike Competition - Lough Gara - Sept 2012

The Boyle Rambling Anglers Open Pike Fishing Competition was held on Lough Gara on Sunday 30th September 2012. Over 60 anglers took part with some fine catches landed! First prize for the heaviest pike went to Barry D'Arby with a fine catch of 26 Lbs, 4 ozs  and was awarded the Mattimoe Perpetual Cup. Shane Quinn had a 25Lbs, 4ozs pike and was awarded second place while Joe McDermott was third with 22 Lbs, 8ozs. Fourth Prize went to Peter Noone with a catch of 22 Lbs, 6ozs and Fifth place was awarded to P.J. Cunningham with a very fine catch of 19Lbs. Membership prize was awarded to John Nicholson with a very respectable catch of 14Lbs, 2 ozs. Kiddies Prizes was Paddy Sharkey who reeled in a 4 Lbs, 12 oz whopper and was presented with a bag of baits for his trouble!! John Nicholson doubled up on his winnings by correctly guessing the weight of the heaviest fish. Here are some pictures of the winning fish and the presentation of prizes.
